Results of the Public Call for the Proof of Concept Programme - POC 2023

The public call, which was open from 8 May 2023 to 25 June 2023, received applications from 25 companies.

In accordance with the Rulebook on the Evaluation Process, the Fund’s Commission conducted an administrative check of each application. The projects were subsequently evaluated by international experts, who were assigned projects according to the specific area of support.

Following the evaluation process, seven projects were selected: five in the field of Information and Communication Technologies, and one project each in the fields of Sustainable Agriculture and Food Value Chains and Energy and Sustainable Environment.

The main objective of the Proof of Concept (PoC) Programme is to support early-stage innovation by providing pre-commercial funding for the technical and commercial validation of an innovative concept, while also strengthening the research, development and innovation capacities and capabilities of the private sector and scientific research institutions.

The support is aimed at projects with clearly defined expected results, in line with the aforementioned objectives of the Programme. The table below presents the list of approved projects, together with additional information. LIST

Analysis of the Potential of Flexible Electricity Consumption for Establishing the First Aggregator in Montenegro

Project description

Electricity generation from renewable energy sources (RES), such as solar and wind power plants, relies on the availability of natural resources and is entirely dependent on weather conditions, such as sunlight and wind. However, it has been demonstrated that significant balancing potential lies in the effective management of electricity consumption. Demand-side management involves modifying consumption patterns among certain consumers through various methods, such as financial incentives or energy savings. Within this project, the potential of flexible electricity consumption will be assessed. In addition, the results of this research will serve as a basis for developing a unified flexible consumption concept, known as an “aggregator,” with its results and economic viability to be presented at the end of the project.

Project name

E-navigation for Non-SOLAS Vessels

Project description

The purpose of this project is to validate the concept of an E-navigation system for non-SOLAS vessels and to develop a prototype to demonstrate the concept in practice, using the Bay of Kotor as a case study. By using a smartphone or a dedicated device (a prototype of which would also be developed as part of the project), GPS (Global Positioning System) signals, an appropriate cloud-based computing platform, and the development of the necessary applications, an E-navigation system would be designed to enable vessel users to view their own route and those of nearby vessels, as well as information on maritime routes and hazardous or restricted zones or locations. The system would also enable the relevant authorities to monitor the movement of these vessels and identify them.
