The panel “From Idea to a Successful Startup: How to Secure Funding and Gain Investor Trust” was held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro, in the Unicorn Hall.
The discussion brought together startup founders and innovators who have participated or are currently participating in the Innovation Fund’s support programs. The aim was to provide practical insights and hands-on advice from experienced experts who have guided startups from idea to scaling phase — with a special focus on access to funding and presenting before evaluation committees.

Key topics were discussed — essential for any entrepreneur seeking investment: how to build trust with investors, how to craft a pitch that leaves a lasting impression, what evaluators and funds are truly looking for in an application, and how a team can stand out among many applicants.
The discussion also touched on the most common pitch mistakes, the importance of financial planning, and the creation of a sustainable business model with growth potential.
🎤 Panelists included:
▪️ Christoph Berndt – Corporate finance expert and advisor to European startups
▪️ Maria Carolina Romero – Investor and mentor with extensive experience in building investor communities
▪️ Gordon McConnell – Innovation strategist and leader of numerous university and industry startup programs
The panel was moderated by Bojana Femić Radosavović, Executive Director of the Innovation Fund of Montenegro.
We sincerely thank all participants and guests for their engagement and contribution to this inspiring discussion.
