The Innovation Fund of Montenegro participated in the partner working meeting within the INNOVABLUE project, held on 23 and 24 October 2025 in Heraklion, Crete.
The event was organized by the Region of Crete, with the participation of representatives from research institutions, regional development organizations, and innovation stakeholders from several European countries.

INNOVABLUE
On the first day, a thematic workshop was held dedicated to developing an innovation community for a sustainable Blue Economy, with a focus on four key topics:
• innovative technologies in the fields of aquaculture and marine biotechnology,
• digital platforms and services for marine ecosystem management,
• opportunities for testing and demonstrating underwater and coastal technologies in real-life conditions,
• joint identification of needs and future services of the INNOVABLUE community.
Participants had the opportunity to learn about initiatives in the field of innovative marine technologies in Crete and the wider ADRION region. The Marine Technology Forum and the FORTH Research Center presented examples of advanced sensor systems, operational oceanography, remote sensing applications, and biotechnological solutions. The final part of the workshop was dedicated to a co-creation session in which project partners jointly defined future development directions for the INNOVABLUE community.
On the second day, the Innovation Fund of Montenegro attended the meeting of the project’s Steering Committee, where further steps in project implementation, dissemination plans, and models for involving stakeholders from the Blue Economy sector were discussed.
By connecting science, business, and the public sector, the INNOVABLUE initiative supports the development of innovations that will shape the future of a sustainable Blue Economy in the region. Through its participation in the international workshop and partner meeting in Crete, the Innovation Fund of Montenegro further strengthened cooperation with key research and innovation centers in the ADRION region and continue to actively contribute to the development of sustainable innovations in the Blue Economy at both national and regional levels.
