Thanks to the Innovation Activity Development Support Plan adopted by the Government of Montenegro, the Innovation Fund of Montenegro will have an additional 6 million € available in 2025 to support innovative projects and initiatives.
At its 80th session held on May 15th, 2025, the Government of Montenegro adopted the Information on the Use of Funds from the Investment Program of Special Importance for the Economic and Business Interests of Montenegro, along with the Innovation Activity Development Support Plan of the Innovation Fund for 2025.
The adopted Plan defines the implementation of three key initiatives, with a total value of 6 million €:
- Establishment of a Regional Accelerator for Sustainability and Artificial Intelligence;
- Development of GovTech solutions;
- Strengthening of existing support programs of the Innovation Fund, due to high user interest and market demand.
For the first time, the adoption of this Plan creates conditions for the establishment of “pre-seed” and “seed” accelerators, designed to support early-stage tech companies with high growth potential.
“During the implementation of the Program, 432 escrow agreements have been signed, and currently, a total of €31 million is available to support innovation activity in Montenegro. The adopted Innovation Activity Development Support Plan for 2025 represents an expansion of the Fund’s portfolio of successful initiatives, which will already this year yield concrete results and create a synergistic effect with the ongoing programs.” — Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation of Montenegro
This year is of special importance for the development of the innovation ecosystem, as it marks the first time that such significant funds have been made available for the implementation of concrete programs and activities in the field of innovation. It is therefore the ideal moment for all stakeholders within the innovation infrastructure to expand their activities in line with market needs.
